It seems that Research Council’s are working together towards standardising systems for output reporting which is very encouraging. I expect it will take a while but will remain optimistic that we might get closer to one standard system in the longer term.
We will continue to update this blog as we further develop our processes.

Here at GU we have a CRM System and a programme of work to improve how institutional contacts and events can be shared via this core system.
The system supports a range of individual and organisational contact types. This includes alumi and business contacts.
As part of our on-going drive to improve integration we have been thinking about how to better join up the data from different parts of the University. I am looking at the Research applications and awards and there is also currently a drive being led by staff in Careers, Recruitment, Corporate Communications and Museums.
What has this got to do with Research Outputs? Lots of the activities e.g. public lectures and school visits are outputs that Research Councils, the REF and others require information about.

Just returning from a JISC Netskills BCE: Management and Administration for External Engagement event. Key observations:
– Further enforced the need for standard terminology
– Both the BCE workshops and our Research Outcomes workshops collected examples of research related activity. We agreed to share these examples and our observations.
